Journey of 270 days to reach that magic number 42KM.....Full Marathon.....The beginning (Part 1)

42KM..... Full Marathon.....The beginning, A failed attempt (Part 1)  Feb,18th 2018 at 8.55am , reached that magic number 42km, after 5.55hrs and completed that 1st Full Marathon. Yes, only a fellow runner will empathize the Joy and Ecstasy of being on road for approx 6hours . Let me share the journey and dream that started 9 months ago...... My earlier blog, http://manojvanjari.blogspot.in/2018/02/qualifying-tata-mumbai-marathon-21-km.html , I had shared my journey to qualify and run the TMM and complete 21km, half-marathon. I had a unfulfilled desire which I was attempting from June,2017. As I developed my passion for running, it developed into a healthy addiction or positive obsession. After successfully completing qualifying run for TMM in June 2017, of NIO by doing 10km in 67 minutes, I was confident and felt ready for next goal. I set my eyes to run a Half-marathon. Best Wishes for Std Xth and Std XIIth students.....

Dear Parents, Rome was not built in a day, so is career. We need to add one brick at a time, every academic year is like laying a brick. Std Xth and Std XIIth are one of the few bricks , which we add . Yes, they are final bricks to the 1st step and stepping stone to whole new brave world. All said and done, they are not the end of world nor end of career. As parents, we are the architects and need to be sensitive to few aspects. I feel our parents, did teach us many a things in upbringing of children ( most of them did have more than one child) and are proud parents today of successful ones. If we can imbibe and implement few, I am sure we can be good architects to our child (most have only one today) and can be responsible for creating a safe and happy environment. I am attempting few and sharing same here for like minded parents : 1. Remove Fear. I recollect, a table top on my fathers office table. It said Fear alone is Death. All my child hood days, I never saw my pa...

Technical Rightness vis-a-vis Practical Rightness

Technical Right vis-a-vis Practical Right In many situations, we are subjected to something called as Technical Correctness , which means as per data or artifacts available. Also we experience Practical Correctness, which means as per the situation including some abstract unknown data. This is very relevant, in Organisation since it can trigger Conflicts or be obstacle in Conflict Resolution. It can break relationships in personal environment. Let me share a story to help understand this aspect. One day a Teacher was planning to teach Addition of numbers to age 10 children in a school. She felt it would be good , if she teaches using practical and child friendly way. So she called one student, and handed him 2 mangoes in left hand and 2 mangoes in right hand. She asked the student, how many mangoes does he have. While giving mangoes, she was counting numbers 1 ,2 ,3 and 4 so he could grasp. The student immediately said 5 mangoes. Teacher felt he has not understood the c...

Tata Mumbai Marathon: 21  km Half- Marathon ......Patience, Persistence, Perseverance They say a journey of 1000 miles, begins with a single step. I have been in sports, gym etc. Fairly fit and healthy. Incidentally I never was into Running as sport , race or fitness activity. Frankly, I had this inhibition or phobia of running continuously. Last few years, I used to see folks participating in various Running Events, Jogging in parks etc. I used to get tempted and did give it a try few times, only to give up with excuses since my heart was not into it. April, 2017 and few months away from 50 years completion in September 2017, I decided I am going to run, and not just run.....I am going to run a  Tata Mumbai Marathon  Half-Marathon (21 KM). Once decided I knew , I had to do it. Also one lesson I learnt early in life, when we announce our Goals , Dreams to larger group of near and dear ones, they all converge and support you to make happen. Also as self we ...

Did you hear from your employee.......I want to QUIT?

PERCEPTION   89% of managers believe  e mployees leave for more money. REALITY   88% of employees leave  for reasons other than money (Source Saratoga Institute (PwC)) In my experience and interactions with various employees in the past, the above is more confirmed over years. Most employees have various needs which vary based on age, progress in career, challenges in life etc. Following are few expectations, if addressed, PROBABILITY of hearing I QUIT is minimized. A clear and transparent communication to the employees from management. Create opportunity for growth and development. Encourage career progress. Treat them with respect, recognize contribution and reward as appropriate. Encouraged and groomed as an asset. Create and offer Challenges, which create growth opportunities. Involve them as stake-holders and business partners for strategic growth. Constructive feedback and learning opportunities for strategic progress. Percept...

Find a Job or Negotiating Job Offer is Tough? Top 3 Not to do things......

What not to do while Negotiating a Job Offer. Most do not remain with 1 organisation for life-time. This is in interest of the individual and also organisation. If you do not plan to move after 5 years or more, you are enjoying the hospitality of organisation  and soon becoming complacent. You are soon not contributing to self nor to organisation. So it is obvious the smart and sensible explore opportunities, after a size able period of give and take with organisation is complete. In fact in my experience and few senior mentors of mine, for self growth and learning we should explore before we become big frog in a small pond. Well finding a job is much simpler than negotiating the job offer. Here are few NOT TO DO Things while negotiating Job Offer. 1. Do not discuss and invest time if you are not keen to join the Organisation. If the Job Offer becomes tempting you may land in confused state of mind to join or not join, due to the offer. 2. Do not accept everything a...
